EPA Vote Will Be As Toxic As Health Care Vote for Senators
Americans for Prosperity ^ | 6/10/2010 | AFP Blog

Posted on 06/10/2010 6:46:10 PM PDT by Qbert

Following the Senate’s failure to curb the Environmental Protection Agency’s global warming-based power grab, Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips released the following statement:

“This is outrageous. The Senate has allowed the EPA to essentially turn itself into a super-legislature. The EPA is simply rewriting the law to suit the administration’s purposes, and the Senate is unwilling to stop them.

“The Obama administration can now continue pursuing an extreme global warming agenda, sending our energy prices skyrocketing and gaining sweeping regulatory control over the United States economy – without passing legislation in Congress.

“Sen. Jay Rockefeller got it exactly right in explaining his yes vote: ‘The EPA can't decide. We have to. I'm elected to protect my people and my country.’

“Unfortunately, far too many senators refused to protect their people and the country. Every senator who voted NO voted to look the other way, to outsource legislative responsibility to the EPA, and allow that agency to run roughshod over American families and workers.

“Like health care, this vote will have devastating political consequences for senators on the wrong side of their constituents. November is coming, and their constituents will not forget.”

Can someone help me understand the details behind Rockefeller's statement? What regulations did the EPA rewrite? When did the Senate take up a vote on the issue? Thanks.

I was under the impression that this was Lisa Murkowski’s bill where 51 votes were needed to pass and she got 47. It was just to bring the bill up . I could be wrong but that was my understanding.

Rockefeller merely wants to DELAY the writing of emissions regs by the EPA until after Congress passes Cap ‘n’ Trade

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/05/science/earth/05epa.html

The carpetbagger may be on our side on this vote, but he's 100% FOR more emissions controls. He's a snake!

The EPA has declared CO2 to be a pollutant and is moving to regulate large producers, which is every large utility and much of industry in this country.

If you told the guys who initially passed the EP Act that created the EPA that one day, they would regulate CO2 as a pollutant based on bogus anthropogenic global warming “science”, they would be horrified. I wonder if any of those guys are still in Congress?

I say de-fund the EPA. We cannot afford their carbon footprint.

You’re welcome. The drive-by media sure isn’t talking about the importance of this. They’re too busy talking about Joren van der Sloot’s latest victim. Who cares about the American economy getting hosed, worse than it already is?
