Fox News ^ | 06/09/10 | Jana Winter

Standing in front of a wall-to-wall mural featuring a who's who of revolutionaries, including Ho Chi Minh, Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, and boldly displaying the motto Patria o Muerte, Venceremos!!! (Fatherland or Death, We Shall Overcome!!!), a group of teachers, students, parents and community activists in the Los Angeles Unified School District gathered last month for an unusual field trip — to Arizona, to protest that state's controversial immigration law.

We need a separation of school and state.

This would have been unbelievable even a few years ago....even in left-leaning California.

The clear threat that millions of illegal aliens pose to the very social fabric of southwestern states (and eventually, the entire country) is profound. When a taxpayer-supported public school can carry out this kind of outrage with impunity, something has gone very wrong in America.

Unless every kid had at least one parent with them, then I suspect that a federal law may have been violated in taking minors across state lines to protest.

Escalante was a proponent of English-only education. I hate to think what he was called.

According to who does it.Communists, Socialists, and other perverts , no so long as the Democrat Party is in charge. And when the Republican Party was in charge, they did not have the balls to prosecute anyone for advocating it. So, again the answer is no. Legallly it is a crime, but, very little that happens under the obama administration is legal, including, in my opinion, his qualifications to be President. But, the powers that be knew his life history. They wanted him to be in power and he is there. And there he will stay until they are ready to remove him.

This thread goes back to early June, but it’s yet another reason to homeschool.

Ok Conservatives? When are we finally going to get organized enough to shut down the government schools?

When are we finally going to get organized enough to get our nation's children into **conservative** private schools?

Do you get it yet? Marxism is our nation's MOST serious threat. ( Schools are the Marxists’ **MOST** powerful weapon.) It is playing on center stage. Islam is waiting in the green room.

Solution: Only a nation of youth raised up to fully defend their faith and our nation's founding principles will be to defeat these two internal enemies of our nation. This can only be accomplished in private CONSERVATIVE schools!

Your tax dollars at work.

There should be a way of opting out of public school funding if you home school or private school your kids you should have your property tax and state and federal taxes reduced by the amount that would go to public schools. When they find that the parents are seeking out a school for their kids that isn't completely in the tank for this kind of whackoism and it hits them in the wallet there may be some limits put on this stuff

Good idea. They can carry signs reading, “Free the prisoners!”

Your idea has a name. It is called “tax credits”, and some states have limited programs that allow tax deductions for donations to private voucher foundations.

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of a tuition based system. I find it morally wrong that ones property can be directly taxed. It says, in essence, that your property does not belong to you even though you pay for, maintain, insure, and occupy the property. If you do not pay annual tribute “your” property will be taken from you and given to someone who will pay.

A few hundred years ago this was called serfdom

Serf! Wow! What a good way to put it! You are absolutely correct!

Certainly, in a completely private system of schooling, parents would pay for their own child's education. How would tax credits work if there were no property taxes?
