A beacon designed to automatically go off when it contacts water had not been activated, she said. OK so the water activated EPIRB hasn't gone of yet. That's a fairly positive sign. Prayers up for this young lady.

Unless the boat turned turtle. The EPIRB floats up and if the ship capsizes it can get caught in the hull and go down with he ship.
Prayers out for her. I hope she just lost the mast and is buttoned up waiting for a pickup.

I hope she is okay, I can’t say I agree remotely with the parents allowing their daughter to attempt this, but I pray that she is found safe.
