They changed the name legally. I *think* for awhile it was called Beyond Petroleum, at least in a few ads.

They may have changed the namely legally, but nothing has changed in reality. I may call a dog a cat, but it is still a dog. BP could change its name to American Petroleum, but is still owned and operated by the British. I have nothing against the British, but it is not helpful to claim that because someone calls it by its old name, British Petroleum, that he is being anti-Brit. I would think that the majority of Americans have a favorable attitude toward the British.
