chickadee, when you own stock in a company you can wake up tomorrow and it’s worth zero. That’s part of the deal. I almost bought BP a few months ago because of it’s sizable dividend. Thank God I didn’t but if I did it’s my tough luck. I feel sorry for those pensioners in Britain but I feel more sorry for the shrimpers in Louisiana.

I understand that - but what is to be gained by bankrupting BP? Will it make the spill go away? Who will pay the damages if BP goes bust? The people on the Gulf coast are far more likely to get relief and compensation if BP remains strong.

Obama is an idiot.

Fact is nobody wins if the U.S. government destroys BP. Its a cash cow and that ability will be needed to make as many whole as possible. Driving them out of business does far more harm than good.
