While I wouldn't say that the majority of conservatives feel that the Federal Government is equally tyrannous as was British rule, we always have to be ready to fight tyranny ....The lustful desire for power in certain people never sleeps, and there is always another to take their place if they fail.

Some Constitutional Originalists of an Antifederalist (Jeffersonian) inclination say they think Hamilton intended the Constitution to be a hobbyhorse for just such power-seekers, who would use the General Welfare clause to build a centralized, imperial government on the ruins of Liberty. It's always been said about Hamilton that he was not-so-secretly for "monarchism without the king".

I’m not sure of their thought process. The “General Welfare clause”, at the time of the founding, was understood to not enumerate any additional power to the federal government. In fact if it were to infer power not specifically enumerated the whole concept of the constitution would have been invalidated.

My friends in the South are the Confederate Battle flag as a protest against obama and my friends in the North are flyibg the Gladsen flag in protest against obama.....

In Texas, there are also some Texas revolutionary flags of good pedigree, including the Alamo flag/First Texas Republic flag, which is a gold star on a medium-blue background (brought to the Alamo by the New Orleans Greys, something Texians didn't and Texans don't forget). A later version has the word "TEXAS" printed in the angles of the star, in a rosette fashion, and of course there's the current flag, which was the flag of the Republic for about eight years.

Then there's the Gonzales Flag, with its cannon and star, and the motto "COME AND TAKE IT" (they came, but they couldn't take it).

Molon labe is an ancient Greek expression for “Come and take them!”, the defiant reply of King Leonidas to the Persian demand before the Battle of Thermopylae for his 300 Spartans to lay down their arms in surrender.

"Grasping for straws...

No. He is right (to a degree).

The marxists will not back down. They haven't backed down over the last 60+ years and they wont in the future.

We will either need to separate ourselves from their influence or kill a SIGNIFICANT percentage of them (Marxist politicians and the idiots who vote for them). My guess is that we will choose secession in an attempt to avoid a bloodbath.

What happens after that is entirely up to the marxists, but they have a track record of not leaving well enough alone and they also have a record of EXTREME violence. I happen to think that they will make an attempt to violently subdue us after we cut ourselves free of them. The outcome of that will depend on how much forethought we put into it and how good of a job we did at convincing key military officers to either join us or stand down.

The old union is dead... But that's not such a sad thing really. The old union was nothing more than a mechanism to safeguard our natural rights. Once it stopped doing that job it became expendable, even though it took a long time for some folks to let go of the corpse, nostalgia has a strong appeal.

The important thing now is that we create new mechanisms to safeguard our natural rights. The founders of this nation would approve of this course and in fact, said as much. Whether we like it or not, whether we want the responsibility or not , whether we think were up to the task or not, this task is OURS. We don't have a choice...

So... Yes... Chris. Your right (somewhat), but this will not end how you think it will. You will regret choices you made. Count on it.

Texas like a number of other does have a rich history of fighting for freedom. Some day it may be required to again.

p.s. a history note Texas calvary (Confederate)was the best in the South.

Isn't that about what, in fact, has happened?

The General Welfare clause, and the Commerce clause.

>>The biggest applause line was "or to abolish it".

A growing Fire in the Minds of Men there is.

Will it lead to an American Reformation of a General Plan for Freedom - or simply burn down the village?

"They believe, a lot of people in the right - that the federal government has replaced the British as the occupying force in North America and they have to be ready to fight it.

Uhhhh...exactly which part does he have wrong?

Maybe the NORTH America part. America, certainly, but nobody cares who occupies Mexico or Canadia.

The answer is to regain control of the institutions -- the press, the education establishment, and the courts : and speaking of education, to return it to local control.

The single biggest problem is liberal / Marxist/ homosexual news editors and producers, who control both which stories are covered vs. ignored, and what spin is put on them.

If barely 10% of the effort used to thump and lie through their foul teeth about Palin, had been used on the *truth* about Obama/Biden, Obama would have had a nervous breakdown and dropped from the Presidential race.

If 10% of the effort which went into Bush 41's "October surpries" or into Plamegate, had been put into ACORN and voter fraud, we would have had mandatory photo ID's for every vote counted, and about 2/3 of the Democrats in Congress would be at a bar somewhere, drinking their daddy's trust fund money.

See also Ted Koppel's son, Gore's son, or most of the Kennedys.

Cheers!

I agree. but it wont be accomplished until we free ourselves of their influence... and there are only two ways to do that at this point.

Beat me to it.

The Crown at that time was Christian, rational, pre-modern, non-nihilistic, and non-perverse.

The Feds are low rent atheistic scum, murderous at that.

No that isn't what happened at all. Both clauses are easily understood and if determined by either textualist or originalist analysis neither provide the enumerated powers (federal) government has usurped. The out of control government is your fault and my fault and all Americans fault as we have not forced the government to hold itself to constitutionally mandated powers.

If not by a majority at the ballot, then a substantial minority with the bullet, just like 1776.

Just like 1776, the tyrants will make the first move. They have to to reach their goal. And it will be a mistake.

As was said in 1815: “When you see the whites of their eyes.”
