Missing fingers — practice bombings gone bad?
I worked in the lumber industry for 40 years or so and missing fingers were quite common among the workers, especially those that had begun working back in the late 30s and 40s. Missing fingers would be from anything. I would think a bad bomb would mean more than a few fingers gone.
