Jason posted his WWDC iPhone 4 checklist today and now that we know all about the iPhone 4 I would have to say this checklist shows exactly why I am planning to skip this version of the iPhone and stick with my new Sprint HTC EVO 4G device. The HTC EVO 4G has everything on Jasons list and more already up and running. It looks like the pace of Google has brought Android into the lead with Apple for innovation and excitement in the mobile space.
Looking at Jasons list I would have to say that the most appealing features in the HTC EVO 4G over the iPhone 4 are the no limit multi-tasking, OTA updates, free navigation, Google Voice support, and WiFi mobile hotspot functionality. I would also add that Google leads the iPhone OS in the notifications system, multiple carrier support, customizable home screens, and removable battery. I do think Apple has a great OS though and think the long reported battery life, incredible display technology, better capacitive QWERTY keyboard performance, and better gaming support (6 axis motion looks slick) are compelling features of the new iPhone. As with any mobile phone, it is a personal preference that each of us has to make since one device doesnt fit everyones needs and desires. I plan to stick with the HTC EVO 4G and cancel my Verizon Palm Pre Plus service soon.

I quit going to lunch with a guy over an I-phone...he had it in his hand the whole time we were in the restaurant...mealtime conversation is becoming a lost art with some people.
I will have a bunch of Sprint EVO handsets this Friday the 11th. If anyone in the north Atlanta area wants one, send me a private reply.
Does Verizon have any cool phones? I keep waiting for the iPhone to come to Verizon since I prefer their service, virtualy no dropped calls. My patience is running out, in August I just might switch over to AT&T and get the iPhone.
How is Sprint?
The HTC EVO looks good, got apps?
I was all set to get an iPhone4, but still only 32GB. Seriously, make the iPhone a smidgen bigger to accommodate the 64GB chips!
I have worked on repairing computers since 1960. I am still looking for a cell phone which will make a reliable PHONE CALL from inside a building in the middle of a city!!!! I need a phone, not a TOY.
Don’t they have phones inside buildings anymore?
Verizon has the various Droid phones and coming soon, the Droid Incredible.
If you want a selection of milk toast phones come on over to my network T-Mobile.
iPhone looks great but too big and heavy...and the HTC is even larger and heavier.
I work in hospitals. Most of their phones will allow local calls but block long distance calls without a special code. Forget pay phones..all gone. I have to look for the crowds gathered around windows and doors to locate signal access areas. Also when traveling in “rural” areas I receive a page, but cannot get a signal to call dispatch. I see no big improvement to cell tower range or coverage. Looks like all the push is for the bells and whistles. Screw the basic service they are supposed to supply.
Bigger is better.
Why do people talking on cell phones, especially while driving, have to tilt their heads over? Are they so weak they can’t lift their hand higher?
I guess they could get an ear bud, but then they may walk around with a permanent tilt. Unless it only happens when they are actually on a call.
If you called them and quickly disconnected, and kept repeating, I guess they would look like the swingers from SNL.
Interesting that the “Automatically Drop Calls” feature of the iPhone isn’t listed there.
This is rampant. I've seen entire families at a restaurant with each member glued to their phone. Have seen young couples spend an entire dinner in their own world, stuck in their phones.
My hubby has a cheap Nokia phone and I have a Samsung smart phone; when we are standing next to each other in my office, he has 3-4 bars, I have 0-1. I can’t get voice calls on my cell phone!
I asked the guy at a Verizon store about this and he told me that Nokia built most of the towers and so their phones are more compatible.
I don’t know how true that is, but it’s very strange for sure.My hubby can get calls anywhere and they hardly ever drop...me, forget it!
We have At&t, as do 2 of my dr’s and they EACH have 2 cell phones on their desks; the one they’re stuck with that doesn’t work and the one that does.
Absolutely nuts.
We got my wife an HTC Droid Eris last Christmas, and we've loved it. With the latest O/S update (Android 2.1), we now have turn-by-turn voice navigation, better battery life, etc. I'm locked in with a boring old Motorola flip-phone (my employer pays for mine, so I shouldn't complain too much), but if I was going to get myself a phone, it would be one of Verizon's Android devices (probably the HTC Incredible or the Motorola Droid).
I get annoyed by people stopped at a green light while talking on their phones, and especially by people pulling out into traffic without looking while talking on their phones. Their minds are not on the road.
