Helen Thomas has apologized and resigned. What more do people want?
(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com ...
Are you sure DU isn’t the right group for you? What she said was indefensible.
We forgot the rules—whenever a liberal sins, once they`ve apologized or been fired or retired, we must immediatelly shut up about the sin so the lib can begin to rehabilitate their career [ex. Barney Frank having a prostitute run out of his house; Doris Kearns Goodwin being found to have stolen another writer`s work `by accident`; Patches Kennedy driving drunk]. Conservatives and or Republicans, on the other hand, can be castigated forever after they`ve lost gigs for any comment [Ann Coulter`s `convert them to Christianity` comment we keep hearing about over and over and over tho` she lost msnbc gigs, W blamed for Obama`s screwups]. Personally, all I want is to never hear from the freakin bigot Helen ever again.
Um, yeah, I was agreeing with your statement.
“Give Helen Thomas a break!”
No!!!
Ellen Ratner is a nightmarish living parody of what every man feels his wife will turn into. Sneering, insufferably self-righteous, with the most annoying damned voice south of Joyless Behar. When I had Fox I broke several speed record switching channels when she came on. Let`s hope she doesn`t take over Helen`s position as Dean of the Shrieking Liberal Harpies in the press pool. Never a single insight of value during the time when I actually listened to her to try to figure out how she got a TV gig.
If you think “free speech” means you can say whatever you want without consequences, go call your boss every foul name you can think of. Of if you’re self employed, try it with your spouse. Or with the judge next time you’re in traffic court.
See if there are no consequences.
Feels = fears... If every man felt his wife might turn out like Ellen, no one would ever marry.
While I hate the muzzling of anyone’s opinion, I can’t help but smile when the Left is hoisted on it’s own petard.
Helen worked for a private company which has the right to fire her for any reason—isn`t that what we say about private industry, that they shouldn`t have to conform to rules requiring them to hire people? Keeping someone who`s publicly expressed such sentiments on the payroll isn`t about free speech—the AP would keep her on if such comments wouldn`t result in people boycotting or otherwise stigmatizing the product they`re putting out. People have the right to tell the AP they don`t like what she said; they can fire her if she said she doesn`t like Rice Krispies if they like. Why should her employer be forced to keep on an employee who`s a liability? I think some of us are gleeful such an awful, biased, bigotted writer is gone—that she chose to retire or was pushed out over her big mouth isn`t some Libertarian issue, it`s a collision of realities that happens to benefit those who like accuracy in our our reporting and honesty and historical truth in commentary.
Helen has a break. A permanent one from her former job. It’s the break she deserves.
Thanks, I’m doing fine.
You are correct and in her terms peace could come when Arabs are in control.
If the arabs did succeed in killing everyone else off, they'd only start in on each other.
Oh wait. They are already killing each other...
They were driven out of Jordanin 1970 and out of Lebanon in 1982
I want somebody to hide her false teeth and give her a candied
(not caramel) apple.
Would her having suggested that the Jews go to Auschwitz and Buchenwald rather than Poland and Germany have constituted a threat? I noticed that she only specified those two particular countries out of the entire continent.
This works for me, especially with a strong likelihood that she was given the choice to ‘retire’ or be fired. It’s at least 20 years overdue, however, she will not be allowed to retire gracefully from a profession which she has thoroughly disgraced.
Glad to hear it. Arizonans are some of my favorite people right now.
