Couldn't find anything about a response by Galarraga, nor about how he feels about Chavez in general.

For once I agree with Sluggo.
Is he holding any of Gallaraga’s kinfolk hostage like he did with Urgeth Urbina a few years back?

I'll remember this entire "almost perfect game" affair for the rest of my life. I shouldn't be surprised when people behave honorably and responsibly, but to some small degree I was.
It was the high point of my week with this guy coming in a close second place.

Just wondering what the Chavez regime's position is regarding the baseball players they export to North America in general.
Could Chavez' influence have been a factor in the lefty media's and the Obama White House's pressure last week to change the record and award Galarraga a perfect game?
Seems as if Chavez hasn't yet restricted "his" players from earning a good living in North America, unlike what his idol Castro did for many years with the Cubans. But would anyone be shocked if he reverted to keeping the Venezuelan players home if he became peeved?

Best I can tell, Chavez likes having Venezuelans in MLB. I suppose he sees it as good PR, and maybe has learned from Castro's mistakes. Then, too, Hugo unlike Fidel couldn't very well seal his borders even if he tried.
Chavez personally presented Corky Sosa with some major award not too far back, and Venezuelan winter ball is still open to and attended by many American players, so for whatever reason, that relationship isn't as poisoned as the one with Cuba.
