I am not that familiar with handguns, but my first inclination is to call bullsh--t. Could a 2 year old really have the strength to pull the trigger on a handgun?

Yes. Very sad story. Need to keep them locked up and not accessible to kids. Prayers for the family.

It seems unlikely, but I suppose it depends on the 2 year old, and how close to being a 3 year old he was.

Agreed 100%.

It just seems extraordinary. So you believe the story as reported? I smell a large rodent.

Yes.

The real question is could an adult really be so stupid as to leave a loaded gun within reach of a 2-year-old.

Yes to that also.

Sad.

It’s about a 6 pound pull.

Depends on the gun. Double-action handguns are actually pretty difficult to pull ... I wouldn’t figure a 2-year-old could do so. But, a single-action with a round in the chamber is much easier.

Thanks for the info. Now, if I only knew what double action or single action meant:)

My grandkids are banned from my house until they are at least 12. Just too much dangerous stuff here. Sorry for the family, but you don't leave a firearm where an untrained kid can get to it.

WTMJ radio reports the boy's mother caught him playing with the .38 caliber gun a day before, punished him and put the gun back in the same drawer.

She not only left it where the child could get to it, she put it back in the same place after finding the child playing with it -- AND then left children alone in the room to watch a movie.

What good is a locked up gun? A pistol with a full magazine and an empty chamber is much safer than a revolver. Most kids don’t know how to cycle the slide on an semi-auto.

The story's extremely sad and the mother was extremely stupid.

Any woman can have a child. It's a far fewer number that can raise them.

“Authorities say Zaire Cameron was in a bedroom with two other children watching a movie.”

Somehow I don’t think the kid was Amish...
