BTW my great X 4 grandfather served at Valley Forge. Family lore says Washington referred to him as the “little dutch man†and that he and a friend went into the German camps to spy (and visit relatives) and when returning they stole a white stallion, as a gift for GW, from the corral and stampeded the remaining horses. (It was reportedly the horse that Tully painted Washington sitting on.)
