Totally unexpected by me. An audience member sings a different version of the National Anthem. It was very good.
“different version of the National Anthem”
Drat it wrong song.

A Marine if I’m not mistaken.
No, not a different version, it was the second stanza !!!!or verse if you will
my bad make that 4th verse
NOT a different version - but the SECOND verse
“An audience member sings a different version of the National Anthem.”
Not a different version. He sang verse 2 from the original anthem.
It wasn’t a different ‘version.’ It was the 2nd verse that pretty much no one knows.
Yes, it was very good. But it's not a 'different version'.
What he sang was the last (4th) 'Stanza' (verse) of the Star Spangled Banner
O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And IMHO that 'verse' is why the commieRATS want to change our National Anthem to something else. As they KNOW that 'very religious verse' is there and are afraid that people will someday soon find out it's there. Like you just did (no offense meant.)
I don't know when they stopped teaching it, prolly with the rise of Teacher's Unions, but way back in the Stone Age, the mid 1950's :-) we sang that verse in Elementary School. Today there'd be lawsuits flying for even having a printed copy of the complete song in the classroom.
