With a judge's earlier ruling that Chicago Police Officer John Ardelean had been arrested and detained without probable cause, Cook County prosecutors today dropped all charges against him in a crash that killed two people.
The 36-year-old officer was charged with drunken driving and reckless homicide after his SUV broadsided a car on Thanksgiving 2007.

Drunken, murderous thug gets away with it because he’s part of the right fraternity.
What A Country!
Yeah, IOW Life’s a b#*#* and then you die.
Death and taxes.
Professional Courtesy is the term used to cover this practice. I’m sure this is a practice common in many other professions and LE is no different. I can assure you that I have cut more slack to John Q.Public than I ever have to another officer on a citation so I guess there is a balance that I see and I’m guessing you didn’t consider.
Apparently, Chicago’s answer to the FSB can do no wrong. Not surprising that it’s the Obamabot’s home town.
I can't speak for others here, only myself. I have lived my entire life in the shadow of Chicago & it's corruption. There are a number of things I have seen first hand that would turn the stomach of a honest Police Officer.
All I will say is I have the greatest respect for Peace Officers. However, all I seem to encounter are Law Enforcement Officers. The change in title somehow forces a change in attitude that is not for the better.
Look at his friends and associates.
No, the civil suit will bankrupt him. I hope.
Gainer is a connected name in Chicago. Terrence Gainer ran the State Police for a while. He’s a Republican and IIRC runs the police in the Capitol.
I wonder if this judge is related?
The north and south side of Chicago have different personalities.
For instance, traffic cameras are regularly sabotaged (beaten) on the South Side. On the North Side, where most police, fire and city workers live they are tolerated.
Does he got to red coffee shoppes?
he might get hit with a vegan bagel and tofutti cream cheese
Exactly, see what tribalism’s done for Africa.
Actually, checkpoints prove the opposite. What’s happening the other six days plus without a checkpoint in place.
If cops really wanted to target drunk drivers they’d set up outside of bars and liquor stores.
Checkpoints are invasive wastes of time designed to generate revenue, not stop DWI.
Bad analysis. A cop leaves a bar after three beers & four shots (over what time period we don't know), t-bones a car killing two people and drunk driving never occurs to anyone?
No probable cause? Not the least suspicion?
In Chicago 35 MPH is max on side streets.
LOL, no disrespect to your service, thanks, but have you heard of Tom Dart? Are you familiar with the history of the Cook County Sheriff's office?
Correct.
Forget it Jake. It’s Chicago.
>The cop wrote in the police report that he saw my eye twitch.
I feel sorry for the guys with a nervous-twitch now...
>Plenty of folks will excuse ANYTHING a cop does. Those same folks will condemn anyone who questions behavior of bad cops.
Been there; oddly, when I was criticizing the SWAT team in that recent video (where they shot the guy’s dogs) over their tactical procedure [namely: one/two guys splitting off-stack and then having to call for the extra] and the time wasted with the majority (apparently) in the kitchen messing with the wounded dog. {I’m prior infantry.}
