Obama administration part Daley machine, part Barney Fife. What happened?

They toppled Hillary Clinton, crushed John McCain and managed to get the first black man elected president of the United States.

But now a series of recent missteps just keeps getting worse for Barack Obama's political operation, already under fire from inside the party for losing its golden touch.

The second-guessing of the White House political shop — which is coming in part from top House Democrats — was sparked anew late Wednesday by news that the White House tried and failed to coax another Democratic Senate candidate out of making his race by dangling administration jobs in front of him.

In a possible repeat of the Joe Sestak episode in Pennsylvania, insurgent U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff of Colorado said deputy White House chief of staff Jim Messina reached out to him — with a wince-inducing e-mail that is now public — with three possible jobs in September 2009. Obama wanted to keep him out of a race against Sen. Michael Bennet, the White House's favored candidate.

Taken together, the Sestak and Romanoff cases suggest a White House team that is one part Dick Daley, one part Barney Fife.

>>Obama administration part Daley machine, part Barney Fife. What happened?<<
If you are a good talker, you can get away with things in a job interview that will get exposed once you do the job.

Also, things like the Daley machine only work as a local strategy. Nationally it is just beyond what it is designed for.

Remember Kerry. Whenever he ran for the senate, someone would question his Vietnam service and he would parade out his usual suspects and destroy the person. But when he ran nationally, those that actually knew what went on came out of the woodwork and destroyed him. (SBV)

What works in your home town can be a disaster nationally. Obama’s administration is a textbook case. You can’t just kneecap someone to get what you want, and if that’s all you got, well...

It’s because Obama is a skilled politician when it comes to running for office. He and his team did very well in caucus states, as compared to primary states, during the nomination battle.

So, I think he’s good at running for office and the political wheeling and dealing. He’s not a good manager/administrator/leader.

So once elected, he has no idea how to be a manager/leader/administrator.

It’s telling that his very first management or executive experience is in his current job as President of the United States.

“They toppled Hillary Clinton, crushed John McCain and managed to get the first black man elected president of the United States. “

Let’s remember that Hilary was/is strongly polarized: you either loved her or hated her.

The Bush hate was stoked incessantly for 8 years.

McCain...enough said. Palin was the only thing going for McCain. Notice who the left attacked and continues to attack.

The election is won and lost in the primaries. This means the GOP has to get it’s crap together. It also lends more weight to the seriousness of Obama’s king-making/manipulation with respect to Sestak and Romanoff.

Obama was put in front like a Disney Boyband but benefitted from a well tilled and manured garden.

And with respect to the question, “what happened?”

The media/entertainment/social machine worked it’s delusional butt off covering for Obama’s BARNY FIFE CAMPAIGN!!!

Nothing has changed.

It’s just that the quacking, waddling feathered thing the media keeps calling a Race Horse is more and more being shown to be a very oily duck.

We're going to find out who's stronger -- the Kenyan Moslem's Riyadh-based posse, or the Daley Machine.
