The commissioner of baseball is a god-like position. He can simply announce that this is a one-time only ruling that should not be used cited as a precedent for any other ruling. The particular circumstances of this particular blown call make it a no-brainer to correct.

I tend to agree with that.

It all depends.
If a player holds a “Race Card”, then what?
Or a “sexual orientation” card? What if he’s a white man?
The play must stand. It will get too confusing if overturnd.

The commissioner of baseball is a god-like position. He can simply announce that this is a one-time only ruling that should not be used cited [sic] as a precedent for any other ruling. Be careful of what you wish for. It's dangerous for any organization, be it a government or a professional sport, to put anyone in a god-like position, yet alone some leftist like Obama or Selig, respectively. The result is inevitably tyranny and lack of fairness or justice!
