Russia was our ally in WWII.

Maybe the better question is why people think we should “love” Israel? Allies are made out of sovereign convenience and common interests (which can change), not love. If anything, this country has suffered tremendously due to it’s “love” of Israel. I’m not saying that’s good or bad, kind or evil, just the way it is. How exactly has our “love” of Israel benefitted us?

I know the answer and you know the answer, but no one will mention the elephant in the living room.

Of course, I willbe attacccked as an anti-semite for asking pertinent, logical questions. That’s how censorship works.

I always hear that asked -- how much has our alliance with Israel cost us?

Well, believe me, it hasn't cost us nearly as much as our alliances with England and France cost us in the two World Wars. And that is not...even...close.

I've heard about "all in". Does this qualify as "all out"?

why people think we should “love” Israel?

Because God tells us to love and support Israel.

You were saying ...

Maybe the better question is why people think we should “love” Israel?

Because we love the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the Messiah of Israel, whom God has sent. And because God has chosen Israel as the head nation over all the other nations of the world, in His one-world government, in which the Messiah of Israel will be ruling, as the King of the world, over all the other nations of the world, from Israel, seated at the Throne of David, in Jerusalem. ... :-) ...

Of course, those who don't love the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, will not be likely to love Israel ... [although I imagine some will, anyway, because they see it as "popular" with some in their "circle of friendships" -- whether they really realize why or not...]

Bob J, You asked, “How has the love of Israel exactly benefit us?”

If you will look at the book of Genesis in the Bible, chapter 12, verses 1-3, you could understand better...
-Now the Lord had said to Abram,
“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you,
I will make you a great nation,
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

The Jews have given us many things over the years. Jonas Salk came up with the polio vaccine; Irving Berlin has written some great and soul-stirring songs, such as “God Bless America” and “White Christmas”; the list goes on and on.
God has made it very clear to us Gentiles...We treat the Jews right or else! Those of us who fear and love God, will be blessed by God who do the Jews right.

The above verses are still in effect after 5000 years.

The time of Katrina came right after Bush State Department encouraged Israel to give up more land to the Palestinians. The land of Israel is greater than what she has now. God gave the land to the Jews from the Mediterranean Sea over to the land that Syria occupies and other areas of the Middle East that I am not sure about. It is all there in the Bible. If others will help me out here, please have a go at it. Every time the different Presidents and the state department encourages the Israelis give up land, I get very apprehensive because I know that God is going to let us have it for encouraging the Israelis to give up the land.

I think that people who value the free market "win-win" approach over the socialist "zero-sum game" approach should at least have an interest in the debate between Israel and many of its critics. George Gilder makes the case in his book "The Israel Test" that much of the hatred for Israel is driven by the fact that it has flourished technologically and economically in an environment that is not conducive to such thriving. The notion is that, if they can do it, why not others? Their example makes a lie out of the victimology approach sold by the left. Gilder is an economist and techno-futurist who makes his argument strictly in terms in the context of the free market approach vs. the socialist approach. It is not necessary to use a religious argument to defend the U.S. - Israeli relationship. I have heard U.S. security experts make the case on security grounds, while others have made the case on grounds of shared democratic values.

If you are smart you support Israel because they are on the frontline against the worldwide Jihad. Muslims are taking over Europe via demographics. The two big threats are China's military and the world Jihad. Iran is making inroads in Latin America. You can shrug and say "Throw Israel to the wolves" same as Obama does but I don't think it serves your purposes to live in freedom. If you want the Jihad against America to accelerate then abandon Israel. I promise you the Muslims won't love you anymore if you do. Instead they smell weakness

This is my read of how things should be done for the long term...not in the next ten minutes

Could you please give us the specifics as to how we have suffered "tremendously"?
