It was mentioned that they have fabricated mulriple caps, and that they may try different ones and see which one has the best effect.

They are getting oil through the one that is on there, but they have no closed off the relief valves yet so the flow is very small, most is passing through the cap or around it at the moment.

Maybe too much blowback losses, they can't get the semi-seal they thought they were going to get.
I think they are in the "we will not admit any failure" mode. They will eventually get a better seal, but it will take more experimentation.
