You got to remember that here in Alaska, many fed laws & regs are not enforced by the state police and not respected or adhered to by Alaskans. It's not like back east at all. I wouldn't make back in Pennsylvania a week without being locked up for something or another;;; after living in Ak close to 20 years. We haven't had pistol permits for around 10 years, state found that Alaskans all had guns on them and nobody bothered getting permits. If America realized the king had no clothes. we'd be a better country. Our local Indians figured this out many years back; and they don't mess with the Indians one bit.

The fed park people don't know what to do when the entire community comes unglued over regulations that are matter of fact back east. You see if the crap hits the fan, it reflects on park ranger in charge in a negative manner. He gets blamed by higher ups so they don't take the fall and usually gets demoted and transferred. So usually the park people are quite easy going and look the other way every time they can. Trouble is they get heat from the political higher ups to enforce their plans. I have gotten along with all the park rangers here and actually kinda like them. We did have one many years back that had to escorted out of here with police protection after he got outta hand but that's not the norm. We have a new guy who said if lower 48 greenies didn't hear wolves when they visited our park, he wasn't doing his job. That set people off who all agreed maybe he should start studying the moose not wolves. This guy ain't gonna last, handwriting on the wall.
