Glenn said the other day he had 15 million viewers. That’s astounding for a news show these days, isn’t it?

Especially when you consider the time slot. I time my work so that I can either watch him as I finish up or take a break, even if it means I am working a bit later.

Beck isn’t a news show, per se. It is a history class. I used to make time to catch Newt’s lectures on the old Learning Channel and I learned quite a lot, but Beck is covering a thread in American history/politics that has been made obscure over the past 40 years, or so.

My parents were both born around the time of WWI and, of course, came of age in the Depression and were young adults during FDR and WWII. I recall how many times they told us to not speak our minds in public, to be careful what we said, to not sign membership lists of political organizations, etc. As a War Baby with Boomer sibs, I usually ignored them and believed that, as Americans, we had freedom of speech and opinion. Of course, I learned differently, over time, but Beck is showing us why past generations were cautious.

Beck is taking the education aspect of community organizing to the masses. This time, it is aimed at the conservatives because we are the present enemies of the state. It is, IMO, too late to take Beck out. It would create a martyr. He has already opened eyes and minds.

I have seen you on his show before. Tell us your personal, in-person gut responses to the man, please.
