I guess now we know why you are not an oil producer; merely an oil consumer. Succeeding in the industry, and at the depths involved is “rocket science.” It only makes sense to run through multiple tactics from a checklist (as BP did) instead of guessing at the beginning. Yes, it is regrettable that it has been 38 days, but I assure you that BP has been working around the clock to resolve the issue. Some items on their checklist precluded what they are doing now. They did not go into this operation thinking that they would invest $100,000,000 and untold environmental costs without exposure to some risk. They accepted that risk (and I am glad they do), and they will pay for it.
What you do not see in the media is the monumental volunteer effort to clean up and avoid further damage. I just returned from Louisiana where I had given three days of my time to help. I worked alongside two BP employees from other states that took their vacation time and traveled to Loisiana to assist. They will even accept your help if you want to take action instead of just talk.

I’m tied up right now making trying to make a living and will have to make even more to pay what I’m sure will be the extra cost incurred by BP in my fuel bills for the next few years. From what I read, BP ignored signals there were potential problems when they started this project. I know it cost them a lot to drill this well. AND, if they feel they got a poor shake from the Obama Administration, maybe they shouldn’t have contributed so much to his campaign.
ALSO, why are they still shipping fuel to Iran in violation of U.S. Sanctions?
But, like I said, penny wise, pound foolish. THEY and WE will be footing this bill for some time to come.
