The leak is 5,000 feet down, but the drilled hole is 17,000 feel below that to the deposit.
THe idea is to crush and fuse the top few 100 feet of sea floor to seal off the drilled hole, despite the pressure of the oil coming up.
The odds of the Kenyan letting that do that... what do you think? I think he would sh*t himself at the very thought of it. Way too scary for him.
Anyhow, I'm sure dear leader is not dithering over the politics of this terrible situation and is going to take direct and deliberate action...after his press conference on Thursday I think it is, and it's only been 30 days anyway. /sarc
Forgive my ignorance, but couldn’t we start drilling like crazy around the site to siphon off some of the oil?
The problem with that is its not rock but sediment way down.
It’s just loose mud for a long ways down....
