The compromise of the ego that Logan played upon was Taylor's downfall. It was almost Shakespearean. She wanted the Middle East peace treaty too much.
There was a most interesting article posted on FR a few weeks ago about that same false goal. I think it was called something like ‘the false religion of a middle east peace’. It was written by a long time advocate of middle east peace treaties who woke up to what a false hope it is.
Bauer's statement at the end was very wise: that both parties must want it to work otherwise it will not last.
Best line of the night was Logan's plea to Taylor ‘No matter if you bury Bauer in the deepest, dark pit he will claw his way back.’

The Logan/Taylor thing at the end really was Shakespearean, wasn’t it? He should have been named President Iago. Excellent acting. He had a *lot* of exposition to spit out, and did it beautifully, all the while maintaining his weasel demeanor. :)
