Slightly OT: What’s a good 12 ga load for goose? I’m going goose hunting this year for the first time. I’m assuming I need to use full choke. We’re no-lead here for waterfowl.

Full is too tight for steel.

Shoot a mod choke with BB or BBB.

Shoot Federal Black Clouds. You won’t be disappointed.

3" T shot. Hevi-Shot has the characteristics of lead. Pricey but worth it.

You couldn’t use full choke back in the day when you had to use crappy steel that doesn’t compress so you used improved cylinder. This new stuff does compress now but I never switched back. Mainly because I shoot duck which are harder to hit so a bigger pattern is appreciated. Geese are different. They fly high and straight so full choke may be warranted. But if they land in the decoys improved cylinder is still better IMHO.
