Back in 1966, we were all required to register for the draft on our eighteenth birthday. It could be done at the Post Office, the high school or various other places....but it was mandatory. It was the same, decades later when my son turned 18, in the 21st century. Just a thought.

Registration was suspened for a few years after Vietnam. They then did a catch up, which resulted in men born in '61 registering in '80, as did those born in '60. Those born in '62 registered in early '81. Then it resumed being with X days of your 18th birthday.

I remember going down to the SSS office in '67.

Back in 65 I registered for the draft at the local Federal Building. Because I enlisted a month later, I never received a draft card, (4A status I believe,) until after I had ETS'd from active duty in 69.

Weather here is hot and humid this week.
