Mike Vanderboegh frequently refers to what he calls “The Clinton Rules of Engagement.” During the Serb-Croatian war it was determined that those who supported the wrong side were legitimate targets for American bombs. Thus a number of radio and television stations were hit by precision guided bombs. Also the homes of some of the executives who owned and operated those stations were targeted.

Even now in Mexico, newspaper reporters are being illed by the drug gangs, many of which are closely allied with prominent politicians from the ruling party.

This is why a civil war in this country will be especially bloody. With the internet (and it won’t be completely closed down, regardless of what the government does) the names and locations of all the reporters, executives and owners of major communications stations will be well known. Also the same information about poilce officials will be widespread with lots of willing assassins lurking in the streets.

We are rapidly approaching a time when it isn’t prudent to be too successful in any high-profile enterprise. I know I’m perfectly happy that I’m not a cop and I couldn’t advise anyone to take up the profession anytime soon.
