Former First Lady Laura Bush has come out against the Arizona immigration law, pointing to the discrimination that her own Irish ancestors, named Welch, faced in their time.
In an interview with Fox News, Bush said the new law merely showed an upsurge in prejudice similar to what her Irish ancestors faced.

I am glad to say the the era of the Bushes are OVER. This cements it. Bush 41, W, Jeb and their wives are nothing but RINOS......W was the chief of them. And his “leadership” is why both houses now are run by the jackasses. The “New Tone” and “Compassionate Conservatism” is nothing but RINOism trying to masquarade as conservatism.
It is time to look forward.....and never look back at the Bushes again. With each passing day, they are another disappointment.
It may be that she is already paid, and it will be the publisher who loses if the book does not sell well. But I would imagine she is trying to con liberals into buying her book. Now we see there is no need to “con” at all. She was with them all along, and I did already know that.
She was a fine First Lady because she understood the role ... unlike the woman before her and the woman after her.
She's had these views from the get go but kept her mouth shut ... because she understood that the country didn't elect her, it elected her husband.
Laura. Shut up and go teach kids to read or something.
So true, but not so much a disappointment as knowing there was no "core" there from Prescott Bush on down to the present. Even Joe McCarthy knew that.
Sheesh, why do I feel like Laura is coming out of some closet??
She is starting to remind me of Meghan McCain...
I'll buy it when they're stacked up at the dollar store to use the pages as charcoal lighter.
Besides, anything to protect the mexican in-laws in the family.

Are the in-laws not American citizens?
BOYCOTT LAURA’S BOOK!
I’m convinced that Laura saved her husband’s Presidency after his first debate with Kerry back in ‘04. George had just returned from reviewing Katrina damage and was not ready for the debate, which Kerry won handily.
Afterwards, Kerry and George shook hands and their wives were brought out on stage. Theresa looked lost in the klieg lights and John did nothing to help her. Laura came out, all smiles, tapped Theresa on the shoulder and immediately engaged her in idle conversation before the cameras. Theresa’s face lit up and she seemed genuinely happy to have someone to talk to on stage. Finally George came up and last of all, John.
That was the last impression folks had of that night: Kerry won the debate, but Laura stole the show.
I don’t agree with Laura’s latest pronouncements, but I can easily see how she influenced and helped hold together her husband’s Presidency.
The lazy-a$$es who come across our southern border just want to drop anchor babies for freebies like welfare and food stamps and other goobermint handouts instead of staying home and making their own country a decent place to live.
Wonder if Laura bothered to read it?
“Laura. Shut up and go teach kids to read or something.”
I’m glad that’s what she did a First Lady!
“Wonder if Laura bothered to read it?”
She was probably watching a bloviator on PMSNBC and made up her mind then.
meanwhile, I have a good Scottish friend/family leaving to go back to Scotland after jumping through the hoops to be American citizens.
They're doing it the right way....dotting all I's....crossing all T's...
..they're responsible, hard working, love America...
..and are obeying the law, because LEGAL immigration is a long hard process....and it's not over for them.
“Irish ancestors where legal immigrants. Laura has gone dopey.”
She always was dopey.
I love a Texan accent, but my problem was I sometimes had trouble deciphering her extremely thick accent. Whatever that accent is, it is gibberish beyond the pale...I don’t know where she learned it.
Right on the old nail head!!!!
I am a mutt I guess 1/4th Cherokee, German, Irish, Scottish now have I got some immigrant ancestors yes I do proud of them to but they came here many years ago times are different now the country in running over it is full close the doors.
So we took in Irish immigrants in the past. That means we have to open up the borders now, and allow as many illegal immigrants in as want to come in? Like Terry Anderson, the black LA radio host, says, just because this country “used to” do something doesn’t mean we have to do it forever. We “used to” have slavery, too, does that mean we should still have it?
I never knew what a loony lib Laura Bush was. Any respect I had for her has completely gone away.
