Death to pirates has been the norm for basically all of recorded human history.

The Russians could not hang them. Did you see the pictures of the somolis laying on the deck of the ship? They were so skinny the weight of the somolis wouldn’t be enough to stretch their necks! I guess the Russians could add ankle weights! lol

Official note from Russian Bureau of Who gives a Vereniki: получаете комплект произвол, конец рассказа. Благодарю Вас для прослушивания. Means: You come on boat, you get set adrift, End of story. Thank you for listening.

The only provisions the Russians provided were two cans of Spam and a large bag of fried pork skins. (extra salty)

Middle of the Med? The somolis are hijacking in the Indian Ocean.

If you're going to play you have to pay. Maybe next time the Somali pirates will think twice about the consequences of robbery. Set them ALL adrift. Crime doesn't pay.

Somalias transitional government called on Russia on Friday to explain why it had cut 10 Somali pirates adrift...
Good. Now the Russians have a name and address to send the bill for any expenses incurred in dealing with the pirates.

Cool idea!
My question was taken off a website asking why don't we arm our soldiers with super soakers containing pig's blood when we fight against muslims? Seems like an easy win. They would give up without a fight any many lives could be saved. Many muslims would not wake up in Hell disappointed that the 72 virgins were a lie (or pimply faced 13 year old boys).
My brother-in-law actually asked about this when he was in the military and they said they couldn't do it.
I would like to quote JFK on this one and ask, “Why not?”

They were not cast adrift. I think they had their oars. The Somali govt can't be so moronic as to think they were rowing with their rifle butts.
Oh, wait... any members of the Obongo family in the Somali govt?

The Somali pirates really do not want to pick a fight with the Russians.

I would invade them, Somalia. If you start your attack now, you might reach the outskirts of Moscow just in time for a winter campaign...
Made a BIG smile here!!

That would tie in nicely with a plan I submitted to DARPA several years ago. I proposed using military cargo planes to perform low-altitude, low-speed, "supply drops" of
thousands of live pigs into Iraqi and Afghan cities. During flight, the animals would be housed in padded crates (about 100 pigs to a crate) designed to slide out the back of the plane and to burst open upon impact.
As an added touch, I also proposed making a bunch of custom "tee-shirts" for the pigs with "I'm with Mohammed" printed on them, and an arrow pointing to the pigs' butts. I suggested that the chaos caused by a couple thousand live swine running through their city street wearing blasphemous t-shirts would be well worth the effort and expense.
I never DID hear back from them... can't imagine why...
I also suggested issuing a world-wide press release stating that U.S. munitions manufacturers had recently begun coating each and every round of ammunition with a very light coating of pork fat prior to final packaging -- Just to prevent corrosion, don't you know!

In Soviet Russia, hostage takers get body parts of their relatives sent to THEM!
In October 1985, Alfa was dispatched to Beirut, Lebanon, when four Soviet diplomats had been taken hostage by a Sunni militant group. By the time Alfa was onsite, one of the hostages had already been killed. The perpetrators and their relatives were identified by supporting KGB operatives, and the relatives were taken hostage. Following the standard policy of ‘no negotiation’, Alfa proceeded to sever some of their hostages’ body parts and sent them to the perpetrators with a warning that more would follow if the Russian hostages were not released immediately. The tactic was a success and no other Russian national was taken hostage in the Middle East for the next 20 years,[2] until the 2006 abduction of Russian diplomats in Iraq.
