No, but it expands the definition of what it means to be a Republican or a Conservative. "Hey, Laura Bush thinks abortion is OK, so it must be OK." "Laura Bush thinks gay marriage is OK, so it must be OK." What we don't need is the Republican party going any more to the Left.

People do NOT look to Laura Bush, Barbara Bush, Nancy Reagan, Betty Ford, or Mamie Eisenhower and Pat Nixon to see what the Republican party believes.
It doesn't "expand" any definition of anything, let alone the entire Republican party.
