Former first lady Laura Bush has broken with her husband on the premier social issues of his administration and said she backs gay marriage and abortion.
After more than eight years of silence on the controversial issues, Mrs. Bush said in an interview with CNN's Larry KingTuesday, that gay marriage and abortion were points of contention with her husband, former President George W. Bush.
Mrs. Bush in recent weeks has been promoting her memoir "Spoken from the Heart," in which she writes about her life both before and after becoming first lady.
In response to a question about gay marriage, she said, "There are a lot of people who have trouble coming to terms with that because they see marriage as traditionally between a man and a woman. But I also know that, you know, when couples are committed to each other and love each other, that they ought to have, I think, the same sort of rights that everyone has."
Mrs. Bush said she and the ex-president "disagree" on legalizing same-sex marriage.

C’mon stephen. You posted a positive comment to me (in agreement with what I said) and I almost fell off my chair. I thought you were signaling that your (unexplained) demand of me was now off.
I don’t lie about anything, let alone a stupid thing like that.
You posted to me. I can look it up, but please don’t make me waste the time. Just consider that you might have forgotten, like you forgot the times you posted about me without pinging me.
It’s not a bad thing that you posted to me. I thought more highly of you for it. Why would I lie? I’m neither dishonest nor stupid, and to lie about this on a public forum, where people can check, would be both.

It’s worth a lot, Quix, because I have based my posting to him on his posting to me.....just a simple agreement (2 or 3 words), but unless there’s someone with a very similar name, I am in shock.
This would have been within the past 5 months or so.
If you are correct, I apologize deeply to stephen, and will consider my memory faultier beyond anything I ever thought before.
At any rate, I most certainly didn’t lie (I don’t). But if you are sure, then I was clearly mistaken, and am disappointed because I was so happy that it signaled the end of his overt hostility toward me, and have been thinking better of the man since that day.
I guess I should have been thinking that he still considered me an enemy (as I see now!), and not a colleague in the fight. I’m really sorry if I was mistaken.

FWIW, I went through all posts from you, and from me, dating back to October 2nd.
I did it twice, and it took me over an hour.
I hold no profound animus towards you. The reason I don’t want us posting back and forth is that I believe you use your Christianity as a weapon to do the following things.
1) humiliate intimidate, or otherwise belittle those who disagree with you, under the guise of Christian superiority.
2) To elevate yourself above those you disagree with by speaking in Christian language, all the while denigrating and castigating the recipient.
Why don’t you also check my posts to Onyx, and hers to me the last 90 days? According to you, and other Palin folk, we should be enemies, but we are long time FReeper friEnds who have agreed to disagree on Palin.

I don’t believe that I do either of those things, and when I have stepped over the line, as I did with mkjessup once or twice, I have apologized and tried to make things right with him. I most certainly don’t try to belittle others with my faith. On that point I will strongly disagree with your perception.
FWIW, I am not a “Palin folk.” I admire her greatly, but haven’t made up my mind yet on who will be the best candidate for conservatism and the Constitution. I do however oppose Ron Paul because he is a RINO and too liberal, and counter those who attack Sarah Palin without merit. I have never seen you post on any of the threads that I remember (though you can see that my memory is faulty).
I do not consider you in any way, shape or form, as an opponent, and wish that you would stop calling me a liar (in big letters, no less) when I am no such thing.
And I really do wonder who that was who said nice things to me that I thought was you. If I had time to kill, I’d look, but since I don’t, I’ll just apologize again for my mistake.

Thank you. The question is apparent here, that there are those who perceive things that were never intended (and sometimes never said in any way).
I know that I have occassionally overstepped bounds, but the characterization of stephen’s post is not accurate, and one that he made on a single thread where I was being almost literally assaulted by multiple people, and for which I later confessed (he stated his harsh views against me on that same thread)
If he chooses to continue to think things that aren’t accurate, then there is no need for me to repent.

Actually, the whole thread is worth reading. Ohio, you alternate between praying for Rabs, and trashing him mercilessly so many times I lost count. But two things hold true now that didn’t before
