The Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama showcased his diverse musical taste, ranging from Bob Dylan to Jay-Z and Bruce Springsteen, after revealing the playlist on his iPod.
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, to be published this Friday, the Illinois senator said he had "pretty eclectic tastes".
The list of bands reads like the acts at a summer music festival, with the Rolling Stones, Sheryl Crow and Ludacris all in the mix.
Obama said that, growing up, he listened to Elton John and Earth, Wind & Fire but that Stevie Wonder was his ultimate musical hero during the 70s.
The Stones' track Gimme Shelter topped his favourite songs from the band.

Good find!
NOTE to other FReepers: this article is dated from 2008, yet Obama came out in the last few days and claimed he never has used an iPod.
LOL
Rush talking about his Macs... :-)
You know, I'm a big Mac guy. I love Macs, and I've got four Mac Pros. They're the top-of-the-line Mac Pros, maxed out. And they just had a new system upgrade, went to 10.5 Leopard, and they've had two upgrades since October. Yesterday brought 10.5.2, which was loaded.
NB: All right, I've got just one more quick question for you. Last time I saw you, you'd just gotten an iPhone. How's that working out for you?
ROVE: I love it. My life has changed. I have a shred of coolness. I've got my 3,500 people in my addressbook on the phone, I can sync my calendar. I keep track of my modest little stock investments. I can check the weather of my house in Washington, my house in Florida, my boy at school, my hunt-lease in south Texas. I can surf the web, I'm justI get part of my email there.
I mean it is just shocking how much better, how much more productive I am. I no longer carry around a giant address book, if I don't have my calendar close at hand, I can quickly check it out of my I don't have to carry, I used to carry several notecards, now it's just as easy to scribble on my little notepad, I can take photographs and forward them on immediately, it's just remarkable.
You chose the right phone, Karl!
Obama, Rove, Rush ... and “Apple products” ... hmmm .... :-)
By the way, you realize this article is from 2008?
(By the way by the way, sorry about the naughty word in the comic I just posted, I hadn’t noticed it, hope nobody is too offended.)
Ha, great find. He must have wandered off the teleprompter reservation again.
According to Digital Trends, Obama uses a Zune. They likely said iPod in the campaign to sound more hip. All image and not substance for the democrats.

“The Stones’ track Gimme Shelter topped his favorite songs from the band.”
I would have thought his favorite Stones’ Song would be “Sympathy for the devil”
He told the boys at Hampton he didn’t know how to use one!
I figured his favorite song of all would be, “Everybody Must Get Stoned”.
Surprising how much he sounds like Bill (never inhaled, never had relations with that woman) Clinton.
I wonder if a president can be impeached for lying under oath about an illicit relationship with an iPod?
Heck if eligibility doesn’t work, might as well explore this angle.
