Palin angers faithful with choice in California race

Sarah Palin has angered fans by endorsing former Hewlett Packard chief Carly Fiorina instead of a more conservative challenger in her bid to become the Republican candidate aiming to unseat California Senator Barbara Boxer.

Palin, a darling of the right-wing, announced on her Facebook page on Thursday that she was backing Fiorina as she attempts to win the Republican ticket for the election in California later this year.

The 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate said she was supporting Fiorina as a "Commonsense Conservative" on the basis of her "fiscal conservatism rooted in real life experience."

"We can trust Carly to do the right thing for America?s economy and to make the principled decisions she has throughout her professional career," Palin wrote in her endorsement.

However Palin's support has enraged supporters of California Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, who view Fiorina as a RINO -- Republican In Name Only -- an epithet used by right-wingers to disparage pro-business candidates who do not always embrace socially conservative stances.

"Sorry, governor Palin, but Chuck DeVore is California's only conservative candidate for senator," one poster wrote.

"I'm very disappointed in you, Sarah. You should know better!!," another posted added.

I’ll ask them tonight.

Ask them if they liked the RB golf course view. It's a lovely course.

I’m equally sure they liked the view as I am they did not endorse Fiorina.

Remember, it was Duncan D. at the podium, not dad. Don’t forget to ask which person, that is moving out of CA, was honored.

pissant, I already explained CA politics to you last night. Now you’ve heard from MY FRIEND that the politicians and candidates in attendance last night also “know and tout” that Fiorina has the better chance to defeat Boxer.

I will remind you and others reading this thread, that the last Republican to be elected to the US Senate from CA was “pro-abortion” Pete Wilson in ‘82 and again in ‘88 and the seat has been democrat for 22 years!!!

I don’t care what the CA GOP says. I’m specifically interested in Hunter and Popaditch, two known rock ribbed conservatives.

Hunter Sr. is endorsing DeVore.

Here is my exact quote, so you don't try to change what I actually said...

"At a San Diego Republican dinner last night, some of the top CA names in politics expressed their hopes that Fiorina could oust Boxer. Those in attendance were Darrell Issa, Roger Hedgecock, Duncan D. Hunter, Mayor Sanders, and "Gunny Pop" Nick Popaditch (trying to oust the slimy Bob Filner). "

Keep it straight and quit calling me a liar. Would you like my table number and who I was a guest of as well?

You like to think you are the only one that knows anything about CA politics but you don't even live in this state.

I'll tell you what...next event, I'll meet you there. Actually, I'm having a "coffee" for a candidate that's running for state senator. Send me your address and I'll send you an invite.

Sarah Palin is a proud Conservative Republican. No third party for her.

Same here.

You don’t think she’s running and I think that’s why you fool around on Sarah threads. I anticipate that you will support her when she wins the nomination! How will you want your crow served?

Yes, I understand. And I apologize. I had misunderstood what Socalpol said. I thought he said that you said that Popaditch and Duncan D. actually made endorsements.

It does not surprise me in the least that the majority sentiment there would be in favor of Fiorina. Afterall, this is a state GOP pushed Arnie instead of McClintock.

I have NO interest in CA politics other than electing conservatives there, just like I try to in my home state and elsewhere. I misunderstood your post, I admit. The way it was structured gave me the impression that Duncan D and Gunny Pop endorsed Fiorina. WHen I’m quite certain that they will either abstain from endorsing in the primary or endorse Devore like Hunter Sr is going to.

So what. At least Carly HAS executive experience. She can say she ran a company. How many other people can say the same thing?

BTW, HP was mired in complacency when she took over. All they did was printers and entry-level computers. Carly tried to implement some changes and shake up the status quo but ran into negative public opinion about her by the heirs and shareholders who wanted to keep things the way they were. The company lost its innovative touch that it was known for before Carly took over.

LOL, she was forced out after a disastrous merger.

Electing conservatives district, by district, is the best we can manage. San Diego County has wonderful elected conservatives, and hopefully, GunnyPop will be a new one, but he is up against a filthy Marxist in a tough, tough district.

Statewide is much like your state or Massachusetts and it’s getting worse, not better.

That’s why Sarah stepped-in to try to stop Tom Campbell by endorsring Carly Fiorina who is at least pro-life and pro- 2nd Amendment among other good qualities that Sarah listed.

Then why is DeVore running against BOxer just as well if not better than the other two. It is the RINO party down there holing conservatives back.

BTW, just like it is here. THe RINOs here are all clamoring for milquetoast and two time loser Dino Rossi to run against Murray when we have a couple of excellent conservatives already running.

I don’t know. I’ve seen explanations for that one poll, which I do not understand. The polls pitting the three GOP rivals show DeVore trailing the other two by double digits. Primary is not until June 8, 2010. A lot of ramping-up between now and then.

To 8 - You are correct.
Mrs P has enraged me, but she much more oft instills a feeling of genuine hope, (as opposed to Obama's kind).
Constructive critique of Palin, or any pol, is desired. What taints the Right are those who lie about Palin, insist she has sold out, or call her juvenile; idiotic names.

If it is one's desire to negate and annul what Obama & Co. have foisted on America, then we'd better damn well be wanting Sarah Palin to run for POTUS in 2012.

Well, you have that gawd awful ‘almost as dumb as Boxer’ Murray. It would be wonderful to dump her. I saw a thread about someone who looked good in your state, but.... like you said.... there’s already calls for Dino Rossi to come to the rescue. *sigh*
