It isn't a Mexican holiday, it isn't even a holiday in Mexico. It is a Holiday created by a beer company around a semi-obscure battle that, wait for it.. the United States helped arm Mexico for, resulting in the victory. It did play a part in our Civil War by keeping France from gaining a foothold back on the continent and supporting the Confederacy.
Right...?
LOL good one! You need to send that into FOX or Redeye and maybe get some on air play with that.
Mexican Holiday
I was in Mexico 25 years ago on the 5th of May and no one there knew what I was talking about. WE invented it to fill bars and sell beer.
Good Lord, don't wear an American flag t-shirt on St. Patrick's Day, Guy Fawkes Day, or, especially, Jamhuri Day.
Need I add a /s button?
~LOL~ you and I seem to be the only two so far this week that know the actual history. Mexican independence day is in September... but.. wanna bet none of these kids — on either side — know the actual history? Because IMHO it actually gives our kids a lot of rights to show pride since without General Sheridan Mexico would likely be a subsidiary of France.
I hereby propose that the name of this non-holiday be changed to: PSYCHO-de Mayo day
