How sad this is.

My mother’s side of the family is of Mexican descent. My grandfather came from Mexico.....LEGALLY!
(I rarely admit that)

My mother and father refused to teach their kids spanish. Even though my mother spoke it fluently. She told us we live in America and are American. We speak English.

We celebrated the heck out of the Fourth of July, loved baseball, apple pie, and anything else American.

What is wrong with these people? Why move here if you can’t embrace and love this Country?

Mental disorder is right.

Good question- why move here if you don’t want to be a part of this country and support the flag and all that goes with it? I know many people who came here from Mexico that became Americans and none of them have this attitude. I do not understand it at all.

My mother spoke Spanish fluently as well, as did all her family, but she was born in Colorado in 1927 and her fater was born in New Mexico in 1900, etc. The treaty of Guadalupe in 1850 gave them their land and they truly considered themselves American....But my father’s family didn’t want him to marry that “Mexican” white girl in 1948 and turned their backs on him when he did. But you know what? My Hispanic relatives were so much more loving than the supposedly “white” ones ever were and my Hispanic Great Uncle was in the Bataan death march and survived.
What I am saying is that this war between the whites and the browns is totally stupido and unnecessary...and we won it in 1850. I am half Hispanic and totally white and American. No one would ever say anyone in my family is brown except if they had been on a cruise to the Carribean!

Had to rant a bit, sorry.

You can speak more than one language —
to be cultured and cosmopolitan and still love America.

Very similar background here. My grandparents on my mom’s side were from Mexico (legally), my mom and dad met in the Air Force (both were officers), and my mom thinks these people are nutz for protesting kids wearing US flags.

She’s been to Mexico and saw how some of our relatives live and she thanks God everyday her parents came to this country. If these people love Mexico so much, maybe they ought to look at the morning sun, turn right and start walking.
