Rubio backs abortion ultrasound bill Posted May 7, 2010 by William March Updated May 7, 2010 at 03:35 PM
Marco Rubio says he thinks Gov. Charlie Crist should sign HB 1143, a bill that would require women seeking an abortion to have an ultrasound scan, and would force many employers to stop offering employee health coverage that covers abortions.
It is my hope that Governor Crist will come down on the side of life, Rubio said in a news release today.
He called the ultrasound requirement an important step toward providing women with vital information during perhaps the most critical healthcare decision they will ever make.
Rubio also said he backs another, less-discussed provision of the bill. It would prevent employers in Florida from offering group employee health coverage that covers abortions, if the insurance plan uses any kind of federal or state tax credit or deduction.
When it passed the bill, the Legislature never produced information on how many employees health coverage would be affected, but state Sen. Nan Rich, D-Weston, a leading opponent of the bill, said its a safe bet most employee health coverage plans in the state would be affected. Nationally, she said, its estimated 85 percent of employee health plans cover abortion. Rich said the provision is a copy of the Stupak amendment pushed unsuccessfully at the federal level by Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich.
Rubio says that part of the bill will also allow Florida to opt out of the abortion coverage mandate in the federal healthcare overhaul.
This legislation will save lives, Rubio said.
hope he can get onboard with arizona illegal law
this is stupid politcal grandstanding

“we dont eed this now”
You say that because you were born.
“this is stupid politcal grandstanding”
Thats a redundant statement.
“we dont (n)eed this now”
Lots of babies do.
“we need total focus on dismantling the federal government”
Abortion is part of that battle. Or do you think states don’t have the right to do anything?
i know his side of it
What is it? Do you have a quote from Rubio?
As I said on the other thread, Reagan made a mistake with amnesty, but yet was the best POTUS we’ve had in recent history.
Rubio is not for amnesty.
No politician is perfect. What’s your choice - Rubio, Crist or Meek?
“Abortion is part of that battle.”
That’s right. As Mark Levin said, conservatism is a way of life, and that includes ending abortion.
We need a focus on America getting back to her first principles - among these - LIFE. Short of this we will be in the same position the following election.
You can see the story was updated: “Updated May 7, 2010 at 03:35 PM .”
Why hasn’t sorry Charlie made up his mind yet? A true prolifer would know right off the bat that showing women ultrasounds, thereby arming them with TRUTH, is the right thing to do.
Actually, Rubio has to check with the President of his State (Mexico) before voting. Mexico must be pro life today.
You got someone better for Senate?
Same old, same old.
No seriously, since you are so intent on running Rubio down you must have someone else who is better. Someone who has the funding, support and so forth to beat Crist and the Dem.
You must right? Cause otherwise you are just causing trouble and not helping.
Seriously.
I am not into pretending that rinos are conservatives anymore. I watch what they do and when the time came for Rubio to act, he acted like a globalist “citizen of the world” and shoved his jackboot on the necks of Americans in Arizona on behalf of illegal foreigners. These are Americans in Arizona who are being kidnapped, raped and murdered by the illegals Rubio represents. Rubio has American blood on his hands as far as I am concerned. He is a traitor and should move to Mexico rather than representing Mexicans in America.
Who would I vote for? I am not in Florida. But if I were in Florida, I would not be voting for Rubio or Crist. Maybe there is no one to vote for in Florida. Maybe the Rinos set up the whole election and screwed up - AGAIN.
“He is a traitor and should move to Mexico rather than representing Mexicans in America.”
Really and what I read quoted him as saying they didn’t have a choice because Washington wouldn’t do its job.
“I would not be voting for Rubio or Crist. Maybe there is no one to vote for in Florida”
Those are the choices. Would you stay home and help the dem get in? He’s not just a dem but leftist.
Yes. I wont’ vote for traitors - Democrat or Republican. Same same.
He didn’t say what you attributed to him.
Stay home tho come election time, we’ve seen that strategy and how it works. Thats why we have obama
Okay. Thanks.
