Sarah Palin Is A Republican Who Speaks At Tea Party Events Occasionally
Liberty Pundits ^ | May 7, 2010 | Melissa Clouthier

Many Sarah Palin devotees seem shocked that Sarah Palin endorsed Carly Fiorina for Senator. They believed Sarah Palin to be representative of the Tea Party–who all endorse Chuck DeVore.

Sarah Palin is first, a Republican.

Sarah Palin has shown loyalty to John McCain and Carly Fiorina is a friend to John. Perhaps she feels it’s only right.

Sarah Palin speaks at Tea Party events and likes certain principles, but by her own admission she does not represent the Tea Party. In fact, she arrived late to the Tea Party–it had been growing and thriving for months before her first speech at an event. She then signed on with Tea Party Express, whom many Tea Party activists view as a Republican organization (as opposed to a grassroots organization) to speak at the anchoring events.

Was it a good political move to endorse Carly Fiorina? Not for Sarah…and maybe not for Carly. This is California, after all, and Chuck DeVore has the Tea Party and serious conservative vote wrapped up. Some have speculated that this endorsement was a desperate move to shore up a failing campaign. Although, it looks like many big donors are going to move in to help Carly because they believe she has the best chance against Barbara Boxer.

Once more, I believe the establishment is wrong. First, they’re misjudging the grassroots sentiment. A Sarah Palin endorsement won’t win Carly Fiorina votes. It just won’t. And it’s condescending and tone-deaf to believe it will. Second, Carly Fiorina is not the best candidate–in the primary or the general.

I have to agree...I find it comical how some 'conservatives' become unglued if you don't fall all over Palin and Beck. Just saying...

We know the vast majority of that money (the $9,500) went to RINOs she’s been endorsing, including Carly, I’m sure.

What is that list?

If I agreed with you that DeVore had no chance of winning, I might support Fiorina this early. I absolutely don’t agree. All three GOP contenders are in a statistical dead heat in head to head polling results vs. Boxer. (Indeed, DeVore is one percentage point ahead of Fiorina in those polls, although it’s within the margin of error.)

The fact is that this is a primary, not an election against Boxer, so it doesn't matter that they are all in a "dead heat" against Boxer.

The race is Tom Campbell's unless Carley Fiorina can stop him, Devore is not, and never has been in the race.

Carly is just about neck and neck with Tom Campbell, if you want Campbell beat, then she is the only route to that result.

Personally I consider holding on to the governorship of Texas a high priority for conservatives, do you realize the cost of Texas slipping into the Democrat sphere?

The chiropractor in chief tells us who is in charge..... lucky for us.

The ‘tea party’ movement does not have ‘leaders for a REASON. Palin has NEVER said she is one, only that she and they hold common values and concerns.

Why must we tie all of our expectations to one falliable human and then be disappointed when they didn’t act as WE wanted them to????

That's your opinion. Not mine. What's your evidence of DeVore not being in the race? Ipse dixit? Feelings?

Carly Fiorina is the favorite of tea party voters in California. Devore did not win that poll.

What was Palin’s fee when she drew 20,000 people to the tea party in Nevada?

How many tea parties has Palin headlined?

That’s exactly why I didn’t want rino perry to get the nomination. To be sure, he’ll win the election, but he’ll do it without my vote. No, I won’t vote for white, obama has insured for all time that I will never vote democrat for anything.

But for sure there will be some screwball none of the above type candidate that believes what Arizona is doing is right that I would rather vote for than perry.

I just saw a poll that showed White only 4 points behind Perry, holding on to Texas is not, and never was a slam dunk.

Exactly - I think Reagan also knew he had to do this in order to build a strong coalition and get the support of those who are now called RINOs (center right) and libertarians.

She already stated in her Tea Party Convention speech that she knew she was going to get involved in several primaries and sometimes people may not agree with her stance which is what she loved about conservatives and about the tea party itself - we do disagree with things that other conservatives do or say, because we believe in individualism and the freedom of speech; we aren’t sheep that walk lock step with the party.

However, there are those on this forum and this thread who will say because she has endorsed two high-profile controversial figures in primaries (one of whch the MSM would have had a field day with if she threw under the bus), people are ready to toss her out and claim she only supports RINOs.

After meeting her I do not feel that is the case at all and truly believe she does want to see this country turned around and back in the right direction, literally and figuratively. I believe she practices conservative principles in her own life - but she is seen as too polarizing and almost too conservative for many of the center right elite on the east and west coasts. In order to garner support from them she has to be willing to work with them.

I just read a post about the UK elections and the same goes for the Tories and the UKIP - no coalition between the two was formed and the Tories offended the UKIP — therefore 1M votes were lost by the Tories because of this split and it could have made a big difference in some of these races to get to that majority.

Devore never really got into the race, he has stayed about 20 points behind and his campaign seems to have hit the skids lately, he is not going to suddenly leapfrog over everyone and make up the 20 point deficit in the next few weeks, especially as the big money comes out in these last four weeks.

California conservatives desperately want to keep Tom Campbell out, Fiorina is the only one that can do that.

He's behind the other two Republicans. But he's equal to them against Boxer -- he actually is doing 1% BETTER than is Fiorina against Boxer -- and he's much more clearly conservative.

To answer my own question: The best argument I've seen "against" DeVore is that his campaign war chest isn't nearly as big as Fiori-bell's. That's a "sad truth" that carries some weight with me. And I can agree that it is a shame we have three big candidates instead of two (creating a risk of Campbell getting a plurality). Still voting for Chuck.

You need to understand, this is the primary, Devore is not going to get out of the primary, he isn't just behind the others, his campaign never got off the ground. In this race you we will have Tom Campbell or Fiorina if we can succeed in getting her past Campbell.

And don't pretend that the "best argument I've seen "against" DeVore is that his campaign war chest isn't nearly as big as Fiori-bell's">

The best argument against Devore is that he never won any support and the race is drawing to a close, now it is time to give it to Tom Campbell, or to take it away from him by giving Fiorina the closing percentage points that she needs.
