I have two questions about this "study:"
Though most customers say they reward service, Lynn reports that quality of service has less than a 2-percent effect on the actual tip.
How did they determine "quality of service?" Hopefully they did something other than just ask the waitress.

Was there any attempt to breakdown the tipping by the customers gender? Are the female customers equally guilty here?

[Prof. Sherry F. Colb] suggested instead that a uniform percentage “gratuity” be charged with each meal. Mandatory, of course.
Like mandatory "charity" (our pathological welfare system) this cannot work and will not end well.
Personally, I will not ever patronize an establishment that institutes this policy; I do realize that the activists will campaign energetically for a local state or federal law to make it a crime not to pay the mandatory "gratuity," and I have been to Europe, where the practice is quite common, but there are ways around that, too.
Losers everywhere.

I think the federal ADA act is a good thing but I am eternally hostile to people with mental health issues ending up as elected officials, or as academics with an obsessive compulsion to run the tiniest details of all our lives; and of course, all our choices.

More than one waitress in the restaurant was saving their money to get boob enhancement jobs (saline implants) in Salt Lake City. Sounds like the place to go if you want an inexpensive saline implant.
