ATHENS, Greece Deadly riots over harsh new austerity measures engulfed the streets of Athens on Wednesday, killing three bank workers as angry protesters tried to storm parliament, hurled Molotov cocktails at police and torched buildings.
Tens of thousands of people took to the streets as part of nationwide strikes to protest new taxes and government spending cuts demanded by the International Monetary Fund and other European nations before heavily indebted Greece gets a euro110 billion ($141 billion) bailout package of loans to keep it from defaulting.
The three bank workers a man and two women died after demonstrators set their bank on fire along the main demonstration route in central Athens. As their colleagues sobbed in the street, five other bank workers were rescued from the balcony of the burning building.

LOL, exactly!
Is this due to a mass strike, or the riots?
I remember taxi driver strikes. It was all a scam for them to not turn on their meters and thus avoid the taxman.
That pricture is just stay at home strikes or just between flights. Never trust the MSM.
Go to the links....There are pics of a whole bunch of canceled flights...
Maybe the MSM is shopping the photos...I don’t know. lol...
This is what happens when 1 in 3 people work for the government. When the country goes bankrupt that union contract is worthless.
She is right. In the movie it was 500 years into the future - it's here NOW - at least for a large percentage of the electorate.
Those pictures are sickening. Just shoot them and let the decent people in Greece have all their stuff, and their jobs.
euro at 1.28 and dropping...
the EU was supposed to duplicate the USA and the euro was to replace the USDollar...
most of the tourist stuff is outside of athens.
I agree that there are a lot of Greek people that are angry about the loss of a free lunch that their government promised them. They trusted their government. What the Greek government hands out is no different than most of Western Europe.
Please understand what is happening.
The IMF (international bankers) are the ones that are forcing the austerity measures upon the Greek citizens. These measures will INSTANTLY take the country of Greece into a major deflationary depression. There will be no slow increase in the water temperature of the economic pot. The Greek "frogs" will be instantly scalded - and they will react with violence.
I'm not sticking up for those who refuse to do honest labor for their pay. I'm simply pointing out that the bankers (through the IMF) are the ones promulgating the level of violence that we're seeing.
I pray that the Greek citizens do throw off the debt-based monetary system.
There are two groups of fighters in Greece. 1) The anarchists who should be taken care of by whatever means necessay, and 2) the freedom and liberty fighters who should be prayed for.
I looked all over that site and couldn’t find any of them. Maybe they have been removed because someone noticed the same things I did. I don’t doubt that the events occurred, I just think someone doctored the photos with molotov cocktails - almost all of them - to make them look more dramatic. That first one is the result of putting two photos together that were taken at slightly different times, hence the smoke had moved. Most of the other fire photos were enhanced by adding more flames to the fire if you will forgive the saying.
We're not next...
We'll be after Portugal,
Spain,
Ireland,
and Iceland,
but we're on the list. So don't get too happy yet.
This is what happens to socialism. It always end badly. When the well runs dry, when there is no more money to borrow. They are slowly moving up the food chain. The next two years will decide America’s future.
We ether vote out big govt and stop the debt ceiling , or we will print our way to chaos. Bernanke is scared-you can start to see it. There is still time to save the republic.
you have to HAVE jobs.
These are deadbeats who sit in cafes all day drinking over cafinated frape and an ouz-aki solving the worlds problems.
these are not men and women of action (or hygene)
"taken care of" regarding the anarchists did not mean providing them money - but rather taking them out if they threaten the lives of others.
Then do you think this is disengenuous reporting?
Remember the Full Auto Credo: "Accuracy by Volume". :-)
commies offing commies? pass the popcorn...and a beer!
Most all media reporting is propagandized.
My point is that for people to assume all of the Greek protesters are anarchists is weak on discernment.
What happens when this comes to our shores in greater force (it's already here)? A lot of people don't understand that there needs to be an uprising against debt-based money. It has made ALL of us slaves to the international banks - not just the Greeks. We need to get back to an honest economic system - and, no, that does not mean we have to go back to gold and silver.
Look, this is simple, right click on the photos and you can follow the links and do all the research you want.
Bernake thought he was hot s**t because he had avoided a depression.
this was the uptick after the crash. Now the issue is a central bank war.
