Glenn Beck's Ratings Collapse
Gillian Reagan
Apr. 29, 2010, 4:15 PM
Is Glenn losing his edge? Maybe not.
Fox News' Glenn Beck might be a one-man $32 million media empire (books, radio shows, tours and more!) but what's going on with his marquee Fox News show?
The Los Angeles Times' Joe Flint reports that News Corp.-owned Fox News cable news ratings are still high above the competition. But Glenn Beck's total number of viewers are down by almost 30%, from 2.9 million in January to 2.1 million in April.
Glenn might not be the rising ratings juggernaut month to month, like he has always been. But he's still a powerhouse in the 5 p.m. timeslot. As Joe writes, "the decline in his audience has hardly made a dent on the lead he enjoys for his 5 p.m. festival of emotions. His rivals should hold off a little on popping the Champagne."

Here's how the other cable news personalities are doing, year over year, in April:
April 09- April 2010 in the 25-54 demo:
* Fox News' Bill OReilly down 3%
* MSNCB's Rachel Maddow down 8%
* Fox News' Greta Van Sustren down 13%
* Fox News' Sean Hannity down 17%
* MSNBC's Chris Matthews down 23%
* MSNBC's Headline News down 26%
* MSNBC's Keith Olbermann down 28%
* CNN's Wolf Blitzer down 37%
* CNN's Campbell Brown down 39%
* CNN's Anderson Cooper down 41%
* CNN's Larry King down 46%

“I agree with essentially all of Becks views, but his rhetoric is childish and simplistic.
(Just my 2c, dont taze me, yall.)”
Agree w/you.
But I’ve always considered him to be like the “expendable security guard” in older Star Trek episodes.
Glenn committed a suicide by calling Geert Wilders a “fascist” and ridiculing people concerned about Obama’s eligibility. The entire Fox News organization is tainted by the fact that a Saudi prince is one of its major shareholders and may in fact influence Fox News. This news organization is not trusted any more by American people.
Thats just insane. Fox is still light years better than the CBS Evening News.
Yeah, but truth is truth and speculation is speculation. Calling attention to massive spending, bogus policies, etc is one thing. That is truth. When you tell people to begin hoarding food, thats speculation. I like Beck, just have to take him in doses, as opposed to Rush who never gets old.
Look, its the same with Savage or Hannity. I like Savage, agree with most of what he has to say. But if you listen to him too much, you get tempted to go jump off a bridge. I like Sean Hannity, too...but he is repetitive sometimes. Its okay, I catch Beck and Savage and Sean in alternating fashion, every couple of days, and thats enough.
Beck does seem to be on a good tear now with this PR statehood thing. Hopefully he’ll stay on that.
Reality may not be fun, and it doesn’t have to be all fun; but if its all reality and no fun, no one will listen...and if no one listens, you can be as real as you want, and no one will hear you.
Don’t worry about me I will have to be in ICU on life supports to miss my chance to vote the bastards out. But the day to day bad news is making me become depressed but fear not I WILL VOTE!
I don’t have cable, so I can’t speak to his TV show, but his radio show has become intolerable.
I used to be a big fan of his radio show because he mixed humor and conservative ideals better than anyone. When He, Stu and Pat go on one of their comedy riffs it makes for great radio.
But lately it’s Dr. Doom all the time. I can’t take more than about 10 minutes before I have to shut it off.

1) Its bad 2)we have to fix it 3)we must remain non-violent 4) no politicians can be trusted

and there’s no difference between Republicans and Democrats.
I’ll start watching again after the November elections, after we’ve done something about it. It’s too frustrating to watch now.
I got DirecTV DVR just to watch him because he was never on when I could watch. The DVR part works great, but Beck didn’t.
He’s too intense, and too gloom and doom.
I wish him well, but I need to have at least a glimmer of hope.
Beck is losing it not for his entertaining teaching moments but his schtick of crying, choking up and shaking his jowly jaws back and forth is old.
More importantaly, every time he takes a personal position he demonstrates what a loon he is.
For instance, asking everyone to sign, essentially, a non-aggression pact.
Why would we need to sign such a ridiculous thing. We are not committing violence, fomenting it nor do we have any intention of being physical in any way. Not with guns, knives, bombs or whatever.
We do still reserve the right of self defense and sign something that commits you to being a rug is just plain stupid.
And so is Glenn.
Bingo! We got the point of what is wrong, but now we have to fix things. And it is going to be the Republicans that fix it, certainly not the Dems and certainly not any third party. We need to concentrait on cleaning up our own house, not burning it down.
Beck is down 7% and O’Reilly is the only one down less at 3%. Makes one wonder why this is even a story as drastically as many others are down. The story should have been: why are so many cable news channel viewers watching less and less?
What about reality ?
People need to know reality. Beck is trying and trying to reach people and wake them up. What he doesn’t realize is, the people he needs to reach are not watching. They are somewhere else in denial.
The comments on this thread are right in line with my own feelings. Beck has done some really good work. He was largely responsible for getting Van Jones fired. He gave the reporters who nailed ACORN lots of air time. And he’s put together a lot of the threads of the Obama underworld (on the blackboard).
But you can only take so much pounding. Bad news, conspiracies, the Left ramming their agenda down our throats. You want to do something about it. You want to see the enemy on the run. You don’t just want to sit there night after night and hear the latest depressing developments.
What we want is hope and change. Hope that we can get America back, and save our Constitution. Change in the makeup of Congress this year, and in the White House in 2012.
I would think after his “GET OFF MY PHONE” meltdown, people would know he was a screwball.
I'm gonna vote against any democrat. I go to the Tea Party rallies (2 so far). I practice my second amendment right. What can Glen Beck honestly tell me that will make a hill of beans difference? I know the evil we're up against. At least Rush offers us solutions. I'm sick of him.
thats me. I stopped watching after the health care debacle passed. It was apparent to me that it didn’t matter what any of us thought or wanted.
Nothing is going to happen till election time so why waste my time being pissed.
I agree.
He goes on and on about Religion in a way that makes me uncomfortable. My wife is an atheist (I pray for her like crazy, but its a very personal thing). She is just as much an American as anyone. Once you bring excessive Religion into a political show, you start to lose people and make others nervous.
