France was their main and more or less only weapons supplier prior to the 1967 war. After than Israel went mostly US because of the preference that US military aid money was to be spent on US equipment. But France has usually been willing to sell to anyone, cash and carry.

Sure its a long shot, but at this point Israel is backed into a corner. What to they have to lose by asking?
