They should have realized that, when you become a military chaplain, the State becomes your new god.
I’ve met many chaplains, even an islamic chaplain, and I don’t think any of them got into their positions without the highest of ideals.
However, The System soon stifles them.
But at what point does one decide that it isn’t worth the hassle if one life can be changed for the good?
They’re in a tough place.
