The Phony Obummer said stupidly: "What I think is a mistake is when we start having local law enforcement officials empowered to stop people on the suspicion that they may be undocumented workers …'

Obummer should be arrested for being an ignoramus.

We don`t fool around here in the North Country.

The Facts, Jack

From the Plattsburgh Press-Republican, Plattsburgh, NY:

TICONDEROGA — Ten illegal aliens from Mexico and Guatemala were taken into custody in the parking lot of the Ticonderoga Wal-Mart SuperCenter Tuesday night.

Police Chief Jeffrey Cooke said police saw the suspected car with four occupants and attempted to pull it over. "They stopped the car in the back of Wal-Mart. There were men standing all around. They're doing renovation at the store."

The men, who were not identified, were working for the general contractor renovating sections of the store. None of them could prove they were in the U.S. legally. As police attempted to take the workers into custody, three of them ran, Cooke said.

"We were not able to apprehend those three." http://blog.pressrepublican.com/archive/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=33435:illegal_aliens_found_at_ti_wal-mart:_are_employees_of_a_contractor_at_the_store&catid=34:news-articles&Itemid=64

----- Clinton said the northern border has long had a need for additional resources, especially in light of Sept. 11.

"Seeing this first-hand strengthens your case. I don't think New York state is getting its fair share of funding," Clinton said.

"Anytime I can see what you are doing in Plattsburgh is an integral part of protecting New York, and that helps me make that case."

Plattsburgh Branch Field Director Ken Tuttle said Homeland Security officers here come from all over the country.

"It takes years to develop, if ever, the local knowledge local law enforcement agencies have," Tuttle said.

"This is a much more effective combination of efforts."

It is a perfect partnership for Clinton County Sheriff Dave Favro.

He said the mindset behind bringing a Homeland Security Division to this area was to network and share resources to tighten our border areas.

The combination of air and marine patrols should help prevent those attempting illegal crossings on Lake Champlain from simply retreating into Canada, he said.

"Since 9-11, we've focused more and more on the illegal (aliens) trying to cross on the waterways," he said. ------------------------- Local investigators key to federal bust Written by By DAN HEATH, Staff Writer Thursday, March 04, 2004

PLATTSBURGH — Two men face federal drug charges after they were arrested in Kingston by Special Agents with the Department of Homeland Security Tuesday night.

The investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Special Agents into money laundering and narcotics trafficking began in Rouses Point and is ongoing after 16 months.

Jose Gonzalez, 33, a Mexican national, and Jose Heredia, 31, a Dominican Republic national, were charged with conspiracy to posses and distribute cocaine. No drugs were seized during the arrest, but agents did seize $200,000 of suspected drug proceeds, in $20, $50 and $100 denominations.

Gonzalez and Heredia made their initial appearances in Federal Court in Albany today and remain in custody.

The Special Agents were assisted by the Montreal Urban Police, Plattsburgh City Police, Plattsburgh-based New York State Police and Homeland Security Investigators based in Albany."
