Interesting.

There is an equivalent Greek story about a character named Deucalion who, along with his wife, survived the Great Flood by building a boat. This story can be found in many collections of Greek mythology. Deucalion is referred to as the son of Prometheus and the grandson of Iapetos.

The Bible records that Noah had three sons, that their names were Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and that all three of them survived in the Ark with their wives. Translate the name Japheth into Greek, and the result is “Iapetos.”

A series of studies along the southern coast of the Black Sea suggest a flooding of many settlements that existed thousands of years ago.

One explanation was that the Black Sea was a freshwater lake. The Sea level rose in the Mediteranean and the Gap between Turkey and Greece was breached and these settlements were flooded.

Some geologists believe that the Mediterranean had no outlet to the Atlantic where the tip of Spain and Africa and Gibralter exist today. Then the breach occurred there and voila higher sea level. there was the legend of the Volcano which destoyed Atlantis and so it goes on.

Personnal I think it was Gorebull warming caused by Fred Flintstone's auto emissions!
