I keep bringing up Mosques and Muslims because the federal government has executed thousands - perhaps tens of thousands - of search warrants on Muslims and Mosques without incident in the years after 9/11. Why is that? Because when the feds show up with the warrants they aren't repelled.

Apparently - in your world - the way to evade prosecution is just to encamp yourself in a fortified building and surround yourself with children.

The agents could have easily arrested Koresh in town. He personally lead the "defense" of the compound. This was after he told an undercover agent in his compound to leave and tell them he knew the agency was coming.

So despite knowing that their "surprise" raid was no longer a surprise, despite knowing that they were heavily armed, despite knowing that there were dozens of children present, and despite knowing that there was a nut in charge, the ATF decided to go in guns blazing anyway.

That's criminal incompetence and stupidity, but you can keep arguing how justified they were.
