This info along with borescope pics of the fan blades was published by the Finnish at least a couple of days ago — it surprised me that KLM and some of the other European airlines then proceeded to defiantly take off on test flights and proclaim there was no problem.

NATO isn’t losing millions a day by the airspace being closed.

How much will the Airlines lose in a massive lawsuit if an Airline goes down. They need to think about it....just sayin.

Most prop planes are turboprops - jet engines that turn the prop. Only small planes and holdovers from WWII are reciprocating engines.

After that Airbus off Brazil - I would not take any chances. They need to use southern airports Italy, Spain, Portugal. Send trains down there. I know they are doing this.

>>I wonder if Prop planes are safe?<<

Apparently they are “more” safe. If they have a good air filter on the engine. The parts do not beat the gritty air as fast. I joked with someone in an earlier thread about what this would have done to the air war in Europe in the 1940’s and he mentioned that good air filters would have pretty much negated the effects.

According to old Icelandic legend the leader of the western lands (USA) must sacrifice his wife into the volcano in order to quiet the volcano god.

No idea. I expect that the air filters would become clogged rather quickly, leading to engine failure. It’s not like you can pull over and change filters very easily.

Yeah your right but on the positive side life is starting to return to normal for the people in Norway for the first time in nearly a century now that regular sightings of “the big scary metal dragons in the sky” have suddenly stopped.

For me it would depend on the glider properties of the plane and the amount of flat ground under the flight plan. ;)
