Hmmm...the Aljazeera report is one of the better ones I’ve seen.
The reporter mentioned the last eruption 200 years ago lasted 2 years. Now that would be something — no air travel to Europe for two whole years.

The reporter mentioned the last eruption 200 years ago lasted 2 years. This is really pretty scary, the economic impact this is having is devastating, even in good times this would be rough.

Sounds like an opportunity for innovation. I'm no engineer or aircraft person but some smart cookie out there might be able to figure out a way to filter the dust out of the engines - stranger things have happened.
