"Raise taxes and you'll get Sarah Palin as President," -- Former Fed Chair Paul Volcker in Toronto last month.
His quip was entertaining but contained a nugget of truth. Sarah Palin is the poster girl for the anti-tax Tea Party movement south of the border and this movement is inflationary.
Ruinous inflation will happen if the Tea Party had their way, but only if you doubt that President Obama, with Volcker as an advisor, won't be able to stare down the noise as he did with health care reform and come up with new taxes and cost cuts.
It's entertaining. Republicans are tax crybabies who believe government is evil and should be slashed. Except the Pentagon.
And their Bush and his Darth Vader have fallen out of favor since they put the United States into Chapter 11, so into this vacuum swans the attractive Mrs. Palin. The good news is that she only registers 18% in polls and the other good news is that she divides the Republican Party.
Her outspokenness contributes to a healthy democracy. Personally, I prefer reasonable people with ideas who treat others with respect. She doesn't. She puts gunsights on a map to "target" Congressmen who voted for health care.
I doubt she'll be a serious candidate and is just a girl on a monetary tear. This week, she collected a rumored US$100,000 speaking fee at a Hamilton fundraiser which I attended out of curiosity.(continued)

This is in direct response to her recent visit to Canada, where even Canadians embraced her conservative message. In an interview, one Canadian wishes she would be Prime Minister of Canada! Of course, we know that’s not possible. But her message resonates to our Canuck neighbors.

Normally, she's not such a Moonbat — it seems that she was just channeling Peggy Noonan.
