NASA Terra Satellite Capture - Ash Plume of Icelandic Volcano

The Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland erupted Wednesday, April 14, for the second time this month. The volcano is still spewing ash into the air and the ash clouds are impacting air travel in Northern Europe.

NASA's Terra satellite flew over the volcano the following day at 11:35 UTC (7:35 a.m. EDT) on April 15, 2010, and the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer, or MODIS instrument onboard Terra captured a visible image of the ash plume from Eyjafjallajokull Volcano.

The MODIS Rapid Response System was developed to provide daily satellite images of the Earth's landmasses in near real time. True-color, photo-like imagery and false-color imagery are available within a few hours of being collected, making the system a valuable resource. The MODIS Rapid Response Team that generates the images is located at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.

My only concern is this:

With that much ash in the atmosphere, does this mean another cold, crappy summer?

Maybe, it will soon extend all the way around the nothern hemisphere and probably will dip further south carried by the upper winds.

Doubt it. It's causing regional trouble right now, but the volume of ash is nowhere close to what Pinatubo put out, and I think it takes a Pinatubo-sized eruption to cause that sort of thing.

The lip color is from rooting around in piles of cash that he has scammed from the GW scheme. It's the only way he can get aroused these days.

The loonies of the enviro movement will now demand that all volcanoes in the world be CAPPED so this will not happen again. I think that is the true meaning of “Cap and Trade”. They are just feeding us a little at a time.

I am waiting for Al Gore and his "warmers" to blame this event on Bush and Global Warming!

Actually it would be funny but it probably is something they are working on.

I have watched at least TWO Docs on the natural release of CO2. Makes humans look like pikers.
