I have to correct myself a little from earlier, the name of Eyjafjöll, island mountains comes directly from the string of island due south of them, the Vestmann Island (that had a volcano erupt practically in the midst of a town of around 5000 souls at the date of 23.01.1973, thankfully no one died directly, though fumes killed one that did not heed the warnings of the civil defence authorities).
