TRACY CITY, Tenn. (WTVC-TV) - A dead man has been elected mayor in Tracy City, Tenn.
Carl Robin Geary received 268 votes Tuesday to 85 for incumbent Barbara Brock.
Donna Basham, administrator of the Grundy County Election Commission, said Wednesday that the city council will now have to appoint a mayor. The term is four years.
She said Geary died suddenly a few weeks ago. She would not speculate about why he won but said his death was widely reported at the time in the small southeastern Tennessee town.
Brock had been appointed mayor approximately a year ago when the then-mayor died.
The Mayor was so bad, a dead guy defeated her in the election. So who takes the reigns now?
In a strange way, this is a good idea. Maybe we should all elect dead politicians. They can’t do so much damage to the country when they’re six feet under.
don’t worry...so how, some way, Odumbo will get to bow to him
A dead mayor can do less harm than a live one. So I take this as more evidence the public wants limited government.
doesn’t seem like a good future running for that particular mayor position
Carnahan says it’s no big deal.
Part of the problem may be early voting. Lots of people are voting early.
I voted for a dead man for County Recorder a few years ago. Ooops.
He may be the best politician in America.
That begs the question of how many in the cemetary voted for him?
“Brock had been appointed mayor approximately a year ago when the then-mayor died.”
We may have a suspect.
The dead guy would do a much better job. Can we get a bunch in Congress??
They have Lautenburg in there, they have to remember to change his protoblood once in awhile.

Possible but I doubt it as he died on Mar. 10 over a month before the election on Apr. 13. TN early voting begins 20 days before the election and ends 5 days before or at least according the state election website.
canna we getta this on the front page
I would vote for Babe Ruth before I would vote for Obama.

I nominate Ronald Reagan. Will someone second the motion?
Grundy County used to have a reputation for being perhaps the most corrupt jurisdiction in Tennessee. It seems as if things may not have changed in recent years!
